London (TheKurdistani.com) by Azad Hewrami – Kurdish media outlets have expressed anger and disgust at a photo taken by the French Associated Press of a session of the Kurdistan parliament in which it shows a group of Kurdish MPs sleeping during the session.

Hewal, a Kirkuk based Kurdish weekly’s headline on 1st of October stated “Dreaming of an independent Kurdish state” and published the photo of the sleeping Kurdish MPs on its front page with the caption of “This photo was taken during Tuesyday’s Kurdistan parliament session, in which some of its members dream of an independent Kurdistan.”

The session which was scheduled to study the Iraqi constitution draft and its relativity to the Kurdish demands was held in the Kurdistan parliament in Hewler (Erbil), south Kurdistan. The parliament unanimously passed the Iraqi constitution draft and urged Kurds to vote in favour of the constitution.

The Kurdish weekly editorial wrote “This photo shows the elected Kurds who are supposed to be representing us to bring us our rights. How can some sleeping men represent our nation and guarantee our rights?”

The photo also appeared on the online Kurdish journal, KurdistanNet.org.

Internet users in south Kurdistan are sending the photo through emails to relatives and friends for humour purposes.
